#OnigiriAction

The Onigiri Action campaign by TFT is a compelling and heartwarming initiative that seamlessly blends the cultural richness of Japan with the global mission of addressing childhood hunger.

The concept of connecting the simple act of taking a photo of Onigiri with the tangible impact of providing five school meals per post is both innovative and engaging. The use of a traditional Japanese rice ball as a symbol not only pays homage to Japan's agricultural heritage, particularly its emphasis on rice but also serves as a universal and relatable image for people around the world.

The fact that the campaign has successfully delivered 8.3 million school meals since its launch in 2015 is a testament to its effectiveness and the power of community participation.

The recognition of the Onigiri Action campaign with the Deputy-Chief’s Award at the Japan Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) awards ceremony in 2019 adds a prestigious touch, highlighting its significance at a national level.

I find it fascinating that a simple social media post can translate into real-world impact, providing a meaningful and tangible way for individuals to contribute to a global cause.

It leaves me wondering what specific regions or countries these meals are being delivered, the logistical aspects of the campaign, and the potential for its expansion or replication in other cultural contexts. Therefore I encourage all to take part in this cultural/humanitarian campaign in order to make the world a better place.
